Mussolini Plaque

Product Description: This Mussolini Plaque is a scarce item to find. It’s made of brass, and is in the form of a bust of the Italian Fascist Prime Minister Benito Mussolini. The portrait has a somewhat impressionistic feel, with boldly rendered details, and depicts an unsmiling Mussolini wearing a neck award. The obverse shows moderate wear to the original finish, with lots of brass showing through, as well as scattered marks, but no damage. The reverse appears uncleaned, with an original dark finish. There is an easel fitting on the back, to allow this to be displayed on a table or desk. This Mussolini Plaque has an impressive look, and would be a great display accent. The condition rates as excellent overall.

Some were unique, custom works of art; some of these were made as presentation pieces. Others were mass produced as decorative or souvenir items; catalogs filled with all kinds of such mass-market items were produced by a number of factories. After the end of WWII, artwork featuring military or nationalistic imagery fell out of favor in some European societies. Many pieces were destroyed.
