Historical Description: The ZB‑30 light machine gun was a Czechoslovak development of the highly successful ZB series designed by Zbrojovka Brno in the interwar period and saw widespread use during the Second World War. Chambered in 7.92×57mm Mauser, the ZB‑30 was an evolution of the earlier ZB‑26, incorporating improvements in durability, gas regulation, and reliability. Like its predecessors, it featured a top‑mounted box magazine, quick‑change barrel, and excellent inherent accuracy, qualities that made Czech light machine guns among the most respected of their era.

Following the German occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939, large numbers of ZB‑30s were taken into Wehrmacht service, where they were designated the MG 30(t). The weapon was employed across multiple theaters, particularly in the early years of the war, valued for its robust construction and consistent performance. Beyond German use, ZB‑30s were exported widely before the war and saw service with numerous armies worldwide.
