WW2 EK1/EK2/Ost Front Stickpin

Condition: Near Mint

Product Description: This original wartime EK1/EK2/Ost Front Stickpin is an appealing piece, for a well decorated soldier. The awards represented here are the Iron Cross First and Second Class, and the “Ostmedaille” for the winter 1941 campaign. Each of the miniature awards was made as a separate piece. They have been neatly soldered together, and the intact, uncleaned toning on the reverse leaves no doubt that this was wartime done. The awards are nicely detailed, with virtually all of the original finish intact, and only extremely slight wear. The attachment pin itself is textbook, with a knurled section in the center to help keep it fastened securely when worn. This attractive EK1/EK2/Ost Front Stickpin is complete and sound, and in outstanding, near mint condition.

Historical Description: In Germany, during and between the World Wars, stickpins were generally made for wear on civilian clothing, by either men or women. Whereas most civil and military awards intended for uniform wear were in the form of medals or pin-on badges, the simple stickpins were mostly for adorning lapels of suits. A huge variety of these stickpins were produced. There were pins that anyone could buy, that were patriotic or showed support for some specific cause. There were also various membership pins for military, paramilitary, civil and political organizations. Military and civil awards were also produced in stickpin versions. These took the form of miniature versions of the awards, and could either show one individual award, or all of the awards that one individual had received. In many cases, German stickpins were made with the same standard of quality as the full-size medals and badges.
