Product Description: A superb example of the prestigious TeNo Leader’s Dagger with Portepee, manufactured exclusively by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. This piece remains in exceptional original condition, featuring matching serial number “3269” on both the blade’s obverse ricasso and scabbard throat—a critical mark of proper factory pairing.
The nickel-plated hilt fittings are bright and clean, tiny amount of flaking at pommel does not detract from overall appearance, and the Paul Casberg-designed crossguard features the detailed TeNo eagle with outstretched wings, clutching a cogwheel-over-swastika emblem. Factory burnishing remains crisp throughout. The deep pumpkin trolon grip transitions to a lighter tone on the reverse and is virtually flawless, aside from two pinhole marks on reverse.
The mirror-polished blade, measuring 28 cm in length, is rated excellent++, retaining full cross-grain with a needle-like tip. The reverse bears the etched TeNo eagle and swastika alongside the Carl Eickhorn “squirrel” logo, with the original black leather blade buffer intact.
Housed in its magnetic steel scabbard, straight and unmarred, featuring raised pebbled panels, smooth borders, and light toning to the recessed fittings. The original officer’s portepee remains correctly tied and in excellent condition.
A rare, matching-number, and beautifully preserved TeNo Leader Dagger with Portepee—an outstanding example for the advanced collector of Third Reich edged weapons. Overall this dagger rates as excellent ++.
Historical Description: The Technical Emergency Corp (TeNo) was formed on September 30, 1919 to assist the German population during times of crisis and disaster resulting from natural catastrophes. The Teno Hewer and Leader’s Dagger was authorized for wear by all Teno Officers and subordinates members in 1938. The Hewer was intended for actual use in emergencies as an axe or hacking knife. The sole manufacturer of both TENO’s was Carl Eickhorn. The Leaders Teno Dagger was designed solely for ornamental wear. Both the Hewer and Dress Dagger are highly collected by collectors for their scarcity and beautiful design.
