Product Description: This exceptional TeNo Jr Hewer is a rare and highly sought-after piece, presented in outstanding condition and complete with its original leather hanger. It is a truly remarkable example, difficult to upgrade, and would make a prized addition to any advanced collection.
The nickel-plated blade retains all of its original plating, with only minor scattered freckling. The etching near the guard remains crisp and well-defined, featuring the TeNo organizational emblem, the legally protected “Ges. Gesch” marking, and the maker’s emblem of the prestigious Eickhorn firm in Solingen. The blade is also serial numbered “1101,” a number that matches the marking on the scabbard throat, confirming its authenticity and originality. The leather buffer disk is still intact, further demonstrating the level of care this piece has received over the years.
The handle is outstanding, with metal fittings that retain their original nickel plating. A fair amount of the factory darkening remains in the recesses, adding to the depth and character of the piece. The white Trylon grip plates are pristine, free of cracks or any damage, maintaining their original, striking appearance.
The scabbard is equally impressive, with nearly all of its original glossy black paint still intact. The scabbard drag and throat fittings are in excellent condition, with their original nickel plating completely intact, free of lifting, and boasting a beautiful shine. The scabbard throat is numbered “1101,” perfectly matching the blade, an important detail that collectors seek in an original example. There are no dents or damage to the scabbard body, further emphasizing the quality of this piece.
The original leather hanger is complete, intact, and remains supple, showing no damage. This is one of the finest hangers we have encountered in quite some time, further enhancing the desirability of this set.
This TeNo Jr Hewer is a choice example in excellent plus condition, with stunning preservation throughout. Its rarity, originality, and outstanding condition make it a standout piece that displays exceptionally well. This is a difficult example to surpass, offering both investment value and historical significance.
Historical Description: The Technical Emergency Corp (TeNo) was formed on September 30, 1919, to assist the German population during times of crisis and disaster resulting from natural catastrophes. The Teno Hewer and Leader’s Dagger was authorized for wear by all Teno Officers and subordinate members in 1938. The Hewer was intended for actual use in emergencies as an axe or hacking knife. The sole manufacturer of both TENO’s was Carl Eickhorn. The Leaders Teno Dagger was designed solely for ornamental wear. Both the Hewer and Dress Dagger are highly collected by collectors for their scarcity and beautiful design.
