Historical Description: The Technische Nothilfe (TeNo, or TN) was a German organization originally formed in 1919 as a technical Freikorps to break labor strikes. During WWII this organization was involved in air raid defense as well as technical aspects of civil defense. Starting in 1937, the TeNo organization was headed by SS members with General ranks. During the war, TeNo was active as an auxiliary organization to the Wehrmacht in many of the occupied areas. A small unit of the TeNo was among the units that took part in suppressing the Warsaw ghetto uprising in 1943. TeNo Einsatz units in wartime acted as technical police and were also used to combat resistance members. After the end of the war, in 1945, the TeNo organization was disbanded by the Allied powers.
