Product Description: Teno EM Hewer Matching – Eickhorn, a highly desirable and increasingly scarce matching-number example of a Third Reich organization hewer, exhibiting strong originality and attractive period character throughout. The Teno EM Hewer Matching – Eickhorn retains matching serial number “4785” to both the blade and scabbard throat, a feature especially prized among advanced WWII German edged-weapon collectors.
The crossguard and pommel exhibit approximately 20% lifting to the original plating over the pot metal base, with an even, untouched patina consistent throughout the fittings. Grip plates remain free from cracks or chips, and all screws appear undisturbed and unmolested, further supporting the piece’s preserved condition and originality. The original leather washer remains intact at the ricasso.
The blade rates Excellent + overall, retaining strong surface character with only minor gray speckling consistent with age and long-term storage. The Eickhorn maker’s mark remains well defined and desirable. The scabbard retains approximately 85% of its original black glossy finish, showing expected edge wear and light crazing from age, but notably free from dents or significant damage. All four scabbard screws remain present and appear untouched.
Overall, an attractive and collector-grade Teno EM Hewer Matching – Eickhorn, combining matching numbers, strong originality, and pleasing untouched patina, making it an excellent addition for serious collectors of WWII German organizational daggers and rare Third Reich edged weapons.
Historical Description: The Technical Emergency Corp (TeNo) was formed on September 30, 1919 to assist the German population during times of crisis and disaster resulting from natural catastrophes. The Teno Hewer and Leader’s Dagger was authorized for wear by all Teno Officers and subordinates members in 1938. The Hewer was intended for actual use in emergencies as an axe or hacking knife. The sole manufacturer of both TENO’s was Carl Eickhorn. The Leaders Teno Dagger was designed solely for ornamental wear. Both the Hewer and Dress Dagger are highly collected by collectors for their scarcity and beautiful design.
