Product Description: This small HJ Flag with RZM Tag measures a very displayable 20″ x 12″ (50cm x 30cm). These desirable flags are very rare in this size. The body of the flag is made of a thin, finely woven wool fabric. It’s printed with the red, white and black emblem of the Hitler Youth. The printing ink saturates the fabric, and is bright on both sides of the flag. All four corners of the flag have small reinforcement patches, machine stitched in place. The hoist end has a white header, with intact suspension ropes at both corners. The header of this flag features an original RZM paper tag. The tag is printed with the round RZM logo, the diamond-shaped organizational logo of the Hitlerjugend, and an “H” tax code, all in red ink. This tough-to-find small HJ flag with RZM tag shows traces of use, with typical age toning, light soiling to the header, and expected wear to the RZM paper tag. There are about half a dozen small moth nips to the wool fabric. This flag would be a great accent piece for a Hitler Youth display; it would be tough to find another one, especially with the paper tag intact. The condition is excellent.

Historical Description: The red flag with white central disk and black swastika was introduced by Hitler in the 1920s as the flag of the National Socialist political party. In 1933, shortly after the Nazis took power, this party flag was recognized alongside the black-white-red Imperial tricolor as one of Germany’s national flags. In 1935, the use of the tricolor flag was discontinued, and between September 1935 and May 8, 1945, the Nazi party flag was the sole national flag of Germany. From its creation in the 1920s through the end of the war, this swastika flag was made and used in endless variations, from the massive banners hung at Party Day rallies to small pennants, bunting flags, and hand-held paper flags distributed along parade routes. These flags, banners and pennants flew from ships, were hung from official and private buildings, and were displayed outside business and private homes. At the end of WWII, the Allied military governments abolished the use of all Nazi symbols, including the national flag. Most Third Reich era German national flags were simply destroyed.
