Product Description: This Silver Police Eagle w/Swords Stickpin is an attractive and interesting piece. A miniature Polizei emblem, with the distinctive wreathed eagle and swastika emblem of the German Police, is superimposed on a pair of crossed swords made from stamped metal. The Polizei emblem and the swords are separate pieces, soldered together. The reverse of the swords is fitted with a soldered plate and straight, un-knurled attachment pin. The entirety of this Police Eagle w/Swords Stickpin is coated with high-quality silver finish. The finish is on top of all the solder joints, leaving no doubt that this is as it was made, with no repairs. All of the original finish is intact, with typical toning and very slight patina. Overall, this scarce pin remains in outstanding, near mint condition.

Historical Description: In Germany, during and between the World Wars, stickpins were generally made for wear on civilian clothing, by either men or women. Whereas most civil and military awards intended for uniform wear were in the form of medals or pin-on badges, the simple stickpins were mostly for adorning lapels of suits. A huge variety of these stickpins were produced. There were pins that anyone could buy, that were patriotic or showed support for some specific cause. There were also various membership pins for military, paramilitary, civil and political organizations. Military and civil awards were also produced in stickpin versions. These took the form of miniature versions of the awards, and could either show one individual award, or all of the awards that one individual had received. In many cases, German stickpins were made with the same standard of quality as the full-size medals and badges.
