Product Description: Russian Empire, Order of St. George, 4th Class, serial number 21025, an early and rare award of silver, likely issued during the Napoleonic Wars period (circa 1812–1815). This finely crafted cross features white enamel arms with a central medallion depicting St. George slaying the dragon, reverse engraved with the award number “21025.” Issued to non-commissioned officers or enlisted soldiers for acts of exceptional battlefield bravery, this early-numbered example predates the mass-production era of WWI and reflects the strict, prestigious standards of Imperial Russian military honors. An important and scarce piece of 19th-century Russian military history.

Historical Description: The Russian Order of St. George, 4th Class, established in 1769 by Empress Catherine the Great, was the Empire’s highest military honor for junior officers demonstrating exceptional bravery in battle. Awarded strictly for acts of conspicuous courage—such as leading an assault or fighting under heavy fire—it was free from favoritism or rank-based promotions. The decoration features a silver cross with a central medallion of St. George slaying the dragon, worn on the left breast with a distinctive orange and black ribbon. Rigid award criteria and limited distribution make it one of Imperial Russia’s most respected and rare military honors.
