Produced from 1934 through 1945 by numerous manufacturers, the K98 bayonet featured a single-edged blade, ribbed or Bakelite grips, and a steel scabbard, all designed for durability in field conditions. Although capable of being used as a fighting knife, its primary purpose was as a rifle-mounted weapon for close-quarters combat and utility tasks.
