Product Description: Model 1889 Enlisted Mans Prussian Guard Kurassier Helmet with Parade Eagle top.  A beautiful tombak lobstertail helmet with German Silver trim. The helmet body has excellent form and beautiful finish. The Prussian Guard Kurassier Helmet body is in 1889 style (chinscales on screw rosettes) with rounded front visor for an enlisted man. The chin scales are period replacements from a standard Prussian NCO Helmet. Large style Reichs and Prussian cockades which have been repainted. The helmets body has had some minor restoration work some time recently. The restorer has painstakingly taken the time to remove all dents in the body by very lightly hammering out all of the dents in the body. Evidence of this can be seen inside the helmet shell from the light hammer strikes on the inside. The interior has original leather sweatband and painted inner visors.  The front plate is the Prussian Guard Star in German silver. The star is held in place with 3 loops, no extra holes behind front plate. Beautiful German Silver Prussian parade eagle mounted on a football shaped base. The Base is marked inside “GKR 3E” or Guard Kurassier Regiment 3rd Squadron. The eagle has been repaired in four areas which is very common to find on 140 year old helmet eagles. Please note, we are not sure when the eagle was repaired in its life and could be a period repair or done many years later. There is just no way to know. Regardless this helmet is a show piece in anyones collection and is truly an impressive helmet!
