Product Description: This printed NSDAP Armband is an outstanding example. This was brought back to the US after WWII by a veteran along with a collection of belt buckles and other souvenirs. It’s a printed style, made of a thin white fabric that has been printed with red ink and a black printed German national swastika emblem in the center of an unprinted white circle. The colors on this armband are still extremely bright and vibrant, just as they where when it was made. These is almost no age toning to the white fabric. There is no soiling and no wear; no sign that this armband was ever issued or used. The long edges are finished with neat machine stitching, and the short edges are factory machine sewn together in the back. On the inside, the printing is visible in reverse, with a “snowy” look that is typical for wartime printed fabric. There is no RZM tag and no sign of a tag ever having been present. This printed NSDAP armband is virtually pristine, and appears just as it did when it left the factory. It would be hard to find a nicer example. The condition is near mint.

Historical Description: Nearly every military, civil, political and paramilitary organization in existence during the Third Reich used armbands. Armbands were worn on military and civilian uniforms and also on civilian clothes, from suit jackets to work clothing. They were used to denote membership in organizations, to indicate a specific role or function of the bearer, and as insignia of rank. Many organizations would change the design of their armbands over time, which added to the variety produced. These were manufactured in countless variations, ranging from simple printed bands to elaborately hand-embroidered pieces of the highest quality. Some Nazi armbands were worn by all members of large organizations and were made by the millions. Others were intended for use at a specific time and place and were unique. Many types were made in very limited numbers. Some bore metal insignia or special identifiers that indicated the wearer’s rank, unit affiliation, or nationality. Armbands were sometimes but not always marked with ink stamps by the issuing authorities.
