NSKK Cap Eagle

Condition: Near Mint

Maker: Unmarked

Base Material: Aluminum

SKU: JW2238 Category: Tags ,

Product Description: This NSKK Cap Eagle is a choice and pristine example of a seldom-encountered piece of insignia. It is made of stamped aluminum sheet metal that never had any paint or other finish applied. It depicts a unique, long winged eagle and swastika emblem used by the National Socialist Motor Corps, with a banner with the initials of the organization. The obverse is very clean, with only extremely minimal age toning to the surface of the bare aluminum. There is no sign that this eagle was ever worn on a cap, and all of the original is intact. The reverse is hollow, as is typical, with very slight patina. It’s marked with the round RZM logo, as well as the maker code “M1/102” indicating manufacture by the firm of Frank & Reif in Stuttgart. This eagle is complete, and is equipped with two round wire attachment prongs. The prongs are held in place with the original crimps, and are bent just as they were when they left the factory. This NSKK Cap Eagle would be tough to upgrade, and rates an exceptional, near mint plus condition.

Historical Description: The National Socialist Motor Corps (Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps, or NSKK) was a Nazi paramilitary organization that conducted training in the operation of motorcycles and automobiles, and also transported Nazi Party and SA personnel. It was founded in 1931, as a successor to the National Socialist Automobile Corps. The organization and ranks in the NSKK were similar to that of the SA. It focused on fitness in motoring skills, including maintenance and use of both military and civilian vehicles. NSKK members assisted with traffic direction, as well as the transportation of personnel involved with constructing the bunker system on Germany’s western frontier. Starting with the outbreak of war in 1939, the NSKK assisted the German armed forces, providing infrastructural support. As with most uniformed organizations in the Third Reich, the NSKK had a myriad of specific regalia and insignia, each with its own distinct purpose and meaning.
