Product Description: This NSFK Flyers Knife is a phenomenal and complete rig, in extraordinary condition, that would be very hard to upgrade. The blade is bright and extremely clean, with normal runner marks. The reverse of the blade is marked with an early SMF manufacturer logo. The handle is gorgeous, with a blue leather wrap on the grip that shows only a faint hint of wear. Most of the leather surface here is pristine. The typical early high quality handle fittings are in lovely condition, with some light patination to the silver finish on the crossguard. The swastika emblems on both sides of the crossguard retain all of the original black enamel. One edge of the crossguard is stamped with an incised letter “K”. The original leather scabbard buffer is present. This NSFK Flyers Knife is complete with its original scabbard which is also in outstanding original condition. The leather here is nearly perfect, and the nickel silver scabbard fittings nicely match the handle, with light patination, and some minor spots and marks. The throat of the scabbard is well marked with “B4 193,” the “winged man” NSFK organizational emblem, and an early Waffenamt type inspection stamp with an eagle above “96.” The scabbard is complete with its original leather hanger which is held in place with a riveted plate, and features an intact, functional spring clip. If you are searching for an ideal example of the NSFK Flyers Knife for a dagger collection, this one is a very strong candidate.

Historical Description: The National Socialist Flyers Corps (Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps, or NSFK) was a Nazi paramilitary organization that conducted military aviation training and held sporting events. It was founded in April, 1937, as a successor to the DLV. The organization and ranks in the NSFK were similar to that of the SA, and it worked together with the Hitler Youth to provide education for young people. Primarily, NSFK training utilized gliders, though private airplanes and balloons were also used. Members of the organization also built and flew model aircraft. The “winged man” organizational emblem of the NSFK featured Icarus and a Nazi swastika, and was used on everything from dress uniforms, to the sports clothing worn in competitions. As with most uniformed organizations in the Third Reich, the NSFK had a myriad of specific regalia and insignia, each with its own distinct purpose and meaning.
