Product Description:This NSDAP Membership Pin M1/42 is a gem. It’s made of Tombak, a brass alloy. The condition on the front is outstanding, with most of the original finish still intact on the metalwork, and no damage to the top quality enamel. The red color used for the enamel on this badge is exceptionally bright and eye-catching, and more opaque than is often seen. It shows only minor wear, with a very slight, even patina from age and use.  The reverse of this retains the original pin assembly, which remains functional and is still held in place with the original solder. Nearly all of the original silvering is present on the reverse, with typical age toning and patina. It’s nicely marked, with the round logo of the Reichszeugmeisterei and the maker code M1/42 indicating manufacture by the firm of Kerbach & Israel of Dresden. This attractive and desirable NSDAP Membership Pin M1/42 is in a strong excellent++ condition.

Historical Description: Adolf Hitler was an army veteran in 1919. Frustrated by Germany’s defeat in World War I, he joined a new political organization called the German Workers’ Party. The organization was founded earlier that same year and promoted German nationalism. Members of this organization felt that the Treaty of Versailles was extremely unjust to Germany, by burdening it with reparations it could never pay. Hitler became the leader of this party in 1921 and changed the name to The National Socialist German Workers’ Party; Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP). In 1933, Hitler became chancellor of Germany and his Nazi government soon assumed dictatorial powers. After Germany’s defeat in World War II the Nazi party was outlawed.
