Product Description: A fine and well-preserved example of an early NS HAGO Pole Topper, representing the Nationalsozialistischen Handwerks-, Handels- und Gewerbeorganisationen—an organization established in 1933 to unify the German middle class before its absorption into the DAF in 1935. Crafted from solid brass, this high-quality piece retains the majority of its original silver-plated finish, with only light patina and minor surface marks consistent with age. The distinctive early-pattern static swastika on the hammer head remains well-defined, retaining much of its original black paint.
The threaded base of the NS HAGO Pole Topper remains firmly attached to its original turned aluminum finial, enhancing its presentation and completeness. With excellent structural integrity and strong visual presence, this scarce and historically significant flagpole topper is a standout example rarely encountered in such condition. Overall, condition is rated as excellent.
Historical Description: Virtually all the myriad military, civil, political, and paramilitary uniformed organizations in existence during the Third Reich had their own flags and standards as part of their organizational regalia. The flags were carried in parades and rallies. In addition to the special flags, most organizations had special pole tops specific to that group, to further distinguish their unique standards. The pole tops often bore either National eagles, organizational emblems, or typical Third Reich patriotic motifs. The emblem would be atop a sleeve into which the flagpole (generally a wood pole with a black finish) would fit. These were designed to be visually impressive pieces of regalia and are often very eye-catching. Most Third Reich pole tops did not survive the war or its aftermath.
