Product Description: A Marine-HJ/DJ rank insignia, designated for a Marine-HJ “Oberrottenführer” or DJ “Oberhordenführer”, worn on the upper right sleeve of the uniform. The insignia consists of a 60mm diameter very dark navy blue wool disk, with machine-embroidered dual “V” chevrons in silver-grey thread, denoting an intermediate leadership rank. The reverse features a protective black ribbed fabric backing, with an intact RZM tag. This example remains in excellent condition, with only minor signs of age.
Historical Description: The Marine-Hitlerjugend (Marine-HJ) was the naval branch of the Hitler Youth, established to train young members in seamanship, naval discipline, and maritime warfare concepts. The Deutsches Jungvolk (DJ) served as the younger division for boys under 14 years old, preparing them for eventual service in the HJ. Rank insignia, such as this “Hordenführer” chevron, were worn by junior leaders, signifying command over a small unit within their respective branches. Due to the limited number of Marine-HJ members compared to standard HJ units, their insignia is considerably rarer, making this a highly collectible piece.
