Product Description: A truly exceptional and investment-grade original M34 German Panzer overseas cap, dated 1940, preserved in remarkable near mint to mint condition. This highly desirable enlisted example retains its original hand-sewn BeVo woven insignia, beautifully executed with the correct pink Waffenfarbe piping denoting Panzer troops, one of the most iconic and sought-after branches of the Wehrmacht.

The cap exhibits extraordinary overall preservation, showing virtually no wear from service or storage. The field-grey green wool body remains crisp and vibrant, retaining outstanding form, shape, and structural integrity throughout. The insignia remains tightly and professionally factory-applied, displaying excellent detail and textbook wartime construction. Particularly noteworthy is the complete absence of mothing, discoloration, stains, repairs, tears, or tracking, something rarely encountered on wartime wool examples of this caliber.
The interior is clearly marked “1940 Wiener Mütze 24” along with the size “58,” further confirming its wartime manufacture and authenticity. The lining remains exceptionally clean and well preserved, perfectly complementing the untouched character of the cap. Also present inside is the original handwritten veteran’s name, “EDER,” a highly desirable feature that not only enhances the individuality and authenticity of the piece, but also opens the door for potential future research opportunities into the original owner’s wartime service.
Finding an original Panzer overseas cap in this level of preservation has become increasingly difficult, particularly one entirely free from the typical wear, insect damage, and age-related deterioration commonly associated with surviving examples. This is a near impossible piece to upgrade and would serve as the perfect finishing touch to a high-end mint Panzer wrap display or advanced Wehrmacht headgear collection. An exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire a true top-tier M34 German Panzer overseas cap with outstanding eye appeal, untouched originality, and elite collector quality.

Historical Description: The “sidecap” was a part of the uniform worn by nearly all military, paramilitary, political and civil organizations in the Third Reich. It was a narrow hat that could be folded flat and tucked into a belt or haversack. This was, at the time, a very stylish type of uniform cap; in the German Army, it replaced the round “pork pie” style of field cap used in the Great War. The German name for this cap, in most organizations, was “Feldmütze”- field cap. Despite the name, it was often worn as a daily service cap by postal workers and other personnel who would never be deployed to the field.  The men and women who wore the sidecap gave it the nickname “Schiffchen,” meaning little boat, due to its shape. The sidecaps were made in the same type of fabric as the uniforms, in the uniform color particular to each organization. The sidecaps were adorned with branch-specific insignia, usually bearing some form of the German eagle and swastika national emblem. Many sidecaps also bore red, white and black national cockades. The insignia were usually embroidered or woven, but metal devices were used on some caps as well. Officer caps generally were distinguished by silver braid along the top edge and/or on the upper part of the flap at the front of the cap, and were often custom tailored from fine fabrics. The German military, and many other organizations, had broadly replaced the sidecap with a new, more practical cap featuring a brim, by 1943. But the sidecap continued to be worn by some troops until the end of the war.
