Product Description: A well-preserved and increasingly scarce example of the WWII U.S. Army M1942 Airborne Paratrooper Jump trousers, issued to members of the elite airborne divisions during early combat operations in Europe and the Mediterranean. Constructed of lightweight olive drab cotton, these trousers feature the classic high-waisted cut with cargo-style leg pockets and double-snap closures. This example measures 34″ at the waist, with a 29″ inseam and a 40″ overall length from waist to cuff.

All buttons are present and appear original, including those at the fly and pocket flaps. Interior size markings remain legible along the waistline. The tag in the right pocket has faded with time, though its stitching remains intact. Light spotting and wear are evident throughout, with slightly darker discoloration at the lower left leg, consistent with field use. This is the standard-issue, non-reinforced version of the M1942 trousers—highly sought after for its early-war association with operations such as Sicily, Normandy, and Market Garden. A fine and authentic piece of U.S. Airborne combat uniform history.

Historical Description:The millions of soldiers who served in the US Army during WWII were equipped with a wide variety of uniforms. The massive mobilization in 1941 meant that some soldiers were issued WWI surplus, but war production soon met demand, and individual soldiers had a range of uniforms for specific purposes. There were dress and field uniforms, either of which could vary depending on the theater of operations, the climate, or the soldier’s unit or specific role. The basic service uniforms were made in wool for the winter, and cotton for the summer, and underwent a series of changes as the war progressed. Officers and female personnel had their own distinctive uniform types. Combat clothing included the M1941 and M1943 field jackets, and special uniforms for paratroopers. Camouflage clothing was used on a limited basis as well. The various uniforms of the WWII US Army are a popular field of study for collectors today.
