Finished with painted detailing, this example is in excellent condition, showing only minor paint loss consistent with light age and wear. Both original attachment prongs remain intact and fully functional.

Historical Description: The Kyffhäuserbund was a German war veterans’ association originally formed in the late 19th century, named after the Kyffhäuser mountain, a symbolic site tied to German national mythology. Officially established in 1900 as the Deutscher Kriegerbund Kyffhäuser, it unified various local veterans’ groups from across the German Empire under a national organization. Its purpose was to provide support for former soldiers, promote patriotic sentiment, and maintain military traditions. By World War I, the Kyffhäuserbund had grown into one of the largest veterans’ organizations in Germany, with millions of members and an influential presence in public life.

Following the war, the association continued during the Weimar Republic and was later integrated into the Nazi structure in 1933, renamed NS-Reichskriegerbund Kyffhäuser. It was placed under state control and served the ideological goals of the regime, blending military tradition with National Socialist propaganda. Despite this politicization, many of its members remained focused on camaraderie, remembrance, and welfare for veterans. The organization was dissolved after Germany’s defeat in 1945. A new, non-political Kyffhäuserbund was reestablished in West Germany in the 1950s, continuing to serve veterans to this day.
