Product Description: This Im Dienste Der Sicherheitspolizei Armband is a choice example of this desirable Polizei armband style. It’s made of a green cotton fabric with a twill weave. The front is emblazoned with the wording “Im Dienste der Sicherheitspolizei,” which translates to “In the service of the Security Police.” This pattern of armband was presumably worn by Sicherheitspolizei auxiliaries. The wording on this armband has been screen printed in gray ink. All of the edges of this armband are neatly finished with gray machine stitching, with a typical French seam used to join the short ends in the back. The condition of this scarce Im Dienste Der Sicherheitspolizei Armband rates as near mint, with full original color, no holes or damage, and no sign that this armband was ever issued or worn. This example came directly out of a closed down movie prop studio in the Czech Republic, along with many other original items. It would be hard to find a better one.

These were manufactured in countless variations, ranging from simple printed bands to elaborately hand-embroidered pieces of the highest quality. Some Nazi armbands were worn by all members of large organizations and were made by the millions. Others were intended for use at a specific time and place and were unique. Many types were made in very limited numbers. Some bore metal insignia or special identifiers that indicated the wearer’s rank, unit affiliation, or nationality. Armbands were sometimes but not always marked with ink stamps by the issuing authorities.
