Product Description: Presented here is a finely preserved HJ Hitler Youth Stickpin, executed in enamel over a tombak base, with notable remnants of its original silvered finish. The obverse retains strong color and surface integrity, with expected light scratches consistent with age, while the reverse displays a greater concentration of the surviving silver finish. The piece is properly stamped RZM M1/72, confirming manufacture by Fritz Zimmermann of Stuttgart, a recognized maker of period insignia.
The pin shaft shows slight bending, as visible in accompanying photographs, yet remains structurally sound and stable. Overall, the stickpin is offered in excellent condition, reflecting careful preservation and presenting as a distinguished example of its type.
Historical Description: The Hitler Youth (Hitlerjugend) was the youth organization of the Nazi Party, formally established in 1926 but expanding rapidly after Adolf Hitler came to power in 1933. It aimed to indoctrinate German boys aged 14 to 18 with Nazi ideology, emphasizing obedience to Hitler, loyalty to the nation, racial doctrines, and militaristic values. Activities included physical training, paramilitary exercises, camping, and lessons designed to shape members into dedicated supporters of the regime. For younger boys, there was a feeder organization called the Deutsches Jungvolk, while girls joined the parallel League of German Girls (Bund Deutscher Mädel).
By the late 1930s, membership became compulsory, and the Hitler Youth played a central role in preparing adolescents for future service in the military or supportive roles in the war effort. During World War II, older members were increasingly used as auxiliaries in anti-aircraft units and, toward the end of the war, even as combatants in the Volkssturm militia. After Germany’s defeat in 1945, the Allied occupation authorities dissolved the Hitler Youth and banned Nazi organizations, recognizing the group as a tool of totalitarian control and ideological manipulation.
