HJ Hitler Youth Diamond Insignia – Chain Stitch

Product Description:  A rare original HJ Hitler Youth Diamond Insignia – Chain Stitch, presented here in unissued form. Insignia is chain stitched onto thin black cotton material. Offered unissued, the badge measure approximately 3 inches wide by 4.5 inches long overall.  Insignia rates as excellent plus condition with only minor signs of wear from age and storage.

Historical Description: The 1938 pattern revised sleeve rank insignia was introduced as part of a broader effort to standardize the uniforms and ranks within the Hitlerjugend (HJ) and Deutsches Jungvolk (DJ). The insignia indicates the rank of Oberscharführer for the Marine HJ, and Oberjungzugführer for the DJ, both of which were leadership roles in charge of youth units. The chevron and pips symbolized the wearer’s rank within the youth organizations, reflecting the hierarchical structure and discipline central to the Nazi youth programs. The protective oilcloth backing on the reverse is characteristic of insignia produced under strict production guidelines set by the Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM).
