Product Description: This Heer Infantry Shooting Lanyard -Type II Grade 2 is a great example. This one is textbook and very attractive. The emblem is made out of bare aluminum, and is extremely crisp, with no evident wear. The lanyard itself is made from wire braid, which retains full original luster. There is no fraying or damage, and only extremely slight age toning. The end opposite the emblem is adorned with 1 wire braid acorns, which together with the emblem indicate the grade. The loops for affixing this lanyard to a soldier’s uniform remain intact. On the reverse, this Heer Infantry Shooting Lanyard is complete with the original wool backing to protect the braid when worn. The backing to the emblem is typical German Army field gray wool, and is still held in place with the original hand stitching. This backing fabric shows light mothing. Overall, this desirable award for an accomplished marksman remains in a excellent condition.

Historical Description: The Wehrmacht Shooting Lanyard was introduced in the 1930s as a marksmanship distinction awarded to soldiers who demonstrated exceptional shooting skills. The Type I lanyards were among the earliest versions, featuring a simple yet distinctive braided design. As a Grade II award, this lanyard represents an intermediate level of proficiency, requiring higher scores in marksmanship tests. These lanyards were worn on the right shoulder of the uniform, signifying the soldier’s skill and dedication to weapons training. Today, these lanyards remain sought-after relics of WWII-era military recognition.
