Product Description: This rare and highly sought-after Deutsche Reichspost (DRP) Postal Leader’s Dagger, produced by Paul Weyersberg of Solingen—one of the foremost blade makers of the period—stands among the most elusive civil service edged weapons of the Third Reich. Presented here as a complete and exceptionally well-preserved ensemble, it represents an outstanding investment-grade example.

The blade remains in excellent+ condition, showing only light runner marks, and is crisply etched on the reverse with Weyersberg’s commercial maker mark. The finely crafted wooden grip is intact, free of cracks or chips, and fitted with the distinctive Postal pattern eagle in sharp relief. The metal fittings exhibit only light, uniform age, with both crossguard enamel swastikas glossy and unmarred. The underside of the crossguard is properly stamped “1242” and “DRP,” denoting issue to the German Postal Authority.

Its scabbard retains more than 95% of the original black enamel finish, with fittings precisely matching the hilt hardware in tone and condition. The original suspension chain is fully intact, complete with a functioning spring clip marked “D.R.G.M.” for protected design. Also present is the original leather buffer, further confirming its untouched and matching state.

With superb completeness, striking visual appeal, and textbook construction, this Postal Leader’s Dagger by Weyersberg ranks among the finest examples of its type—an exceptional acquisition for the discerning collector of rare Third Reich civil service regalia.

Historical Description: The Deutsche Reichspost was the German mail system during the Third Reich and until the end of WWII. As with virtually every German state organization of that era, members of the Reichspost had uniforms and regalia. These were worn not only by the mail carriers and employees of the post offices, but by officials of every level, and included typical Third Reich regalia such as daggers, visor caps, armbands, and collar tabs that bore rank insignia. Reichspost-specific regalia was worn by both male and female Reichspost members. As the German empire expanded in the 1930s, the Reichspost was tasked with operating in the newly annexed regions, and during WWII, the Reichspost worked closely with the Wehrmacht “Feldpost” military mail system. The Reichspost ceased to exist in 1945, and Reichspost items, many of which were made in relatively small quantities, are very collectible today.
