Product Description: The 2nd Class Dr. Fritz Todt Prize in Silver award is constructed out of a die struck zinc alloy base that has been silver washed and chemically blackened. The obverse features a large closed winged eagle perched above a three step pedestal that reads: “Dr. Fritz Todt” and has a mobile swastika that is surrounded by a cogwheel to the bottom. The full back reverse features the appropriate soldered on oval plate c-shaped nickel-silver catch, soldered on oval plate steel barrel hinge and tapered pin. It measures approximately 2 5/8 inches tall by 1 5/8 inches wide. Some of the silver finish has been absorbed by the zinc, The Dr. Fritz Todt Prize award is in excellent plus condition.
Historical Description: On 8 February 1944, In honor of Dr. Fritz Todt’s (Leader of the Organization Todt) Hitler awarded the Dr.-Fritz-Todt-Preis as a Badge of Honor of the Nazi Party for “Innovative accomplishments, which are of great importance for the Volk community because of the improvement of their weapons, ammunition and military equipment, and the saving of labor, raw materials and energy”. The Badge of Honor came with a material prize and a certificate, was awarded in gold, silver, or steel.
