Product Description: We are pleased to be able to offer this stunning and very rare Chained Marine NSKK Dagger. It’s a gorgeous example of this type, which is missing from most collections. The blade on this one is an absolute gem. It has a beautiful, dark logo, tons of original crossgraining, a sharp original tip, and only extremely minor runner marks, with a couple of very tiny gray spots. The reverse of the blade features, a crisp, dark RZM logo, a 1940 date, and the maker code M7/66, indicating manufacture by Eickhorn. Eickhorn was known for top quality edged weapons, and this fantastic piece is no exception. The grip fittings on this retain most of the original bright, thick gold gilding. There is some typical use wear on the reverse of the lower crossguard. The pommel nut shows no signs of having been turned. The grip on this is a correct RZM high ridge type, and has one tiny pinhead-sized ding on the back, but is otherwise perfect. There are some minor spaces where the grip meets the crossguards, a result of slight shrinkage of the wood over the decades. The grip eagle is made of a composite material that was coated with copper and then silver, possibly Cupal. The silver didn’t adhere well to these eagles, and they often appear copper-colored today, as this one does- there is still some silver visible in the recesses of the design. The enamel SA runic emblem is perfect. Thischained marine NSKK dagger comes with its lovely original scabbard. The scabbard body is straight and dent-free, and the fittings have loads of original heavy gilding, with light wear that perfectly matches the handle fittings. The massive linked chain is extremely impressive, with “sunwheel” swastikas alternating with organizational emblems. The clip on the chain is functional and intact, with oak leaf and acorn ornamentation, and a stamped RZM logo with maker code M5/8. The chain is marked “Musterschutz NSKK Korpsführung,” indicating a trademarked NSKK design. With its black scabbard and gilt fittings, the chained marine NSKK dagger is among the very most striking of the whole M33 dagger series. This is an absolutely wonderful Chained Marine NSKK Dagger example, loaded with appeal.

Historical Description:  The NSKK (Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps) was a motorized paramilitary organization under the auspices of the Nazi Party during the Third Reich. The memberas of this organization trained in the operation and maintenance of automobiles and motorcycles. It was a relatively small organization, with about 5,000 vehicles at its disposal in 1931. NSKK members had a rank structure based on that of the SA, and wore similar uniforms and insignia. In 1933, NSKK members were authorized to wear the newly introduced SA dagger. Later, in 1936, a change was made to differentiate the NSKK dagger from the SA version. The NSKK dagger was to have a black finish on the scabbard, as opposed to the brown scabbard used by the SA. There was also a chained version, with a special suspension on the ascabbard, that was worn by officers and by those who had joined the NSKK prior to early 1933. Because NSKK daggers were not made before 1936, and because the NSKK was a much smaller organization than the SA, the NSKK daggers were made in smaller numbers than SA daggers; they are correspondingly rarer to encounter today.
