Product Description: An exceptionally rare and completely original WWII-era Carl Eickhorn dagger tag, manufactured in Solingen and preserved with its original string and paper insert intact. The metal tag displays only minimal paint loss, entirely consistent with age and period handling, and remains otherwise well preserved.
Historical Description: The Eickhorn dagger tag was a small factory-issued retailer tag attached to edged weapons produced by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen, one of the premier manufacturers of Third Reich daggers. Typically made of thin cardboard or heavy paper, these tags often featured the Eickhorn squirrel logo along with the firm’s name and location. They were usually oval or round in shape and printed in black on a white or tan background.
Original tags are highly sought after by collectors, as they add significant provenance and value when found with a matching dagger. Surviving examples are rare, as most were discarded after purchase. Due to their desirability, reproductions exist, so authenticity should be verified by examining printing quality, aging, and paper type.
