Product Description: A rare Azad Hind Gold Medal with Swords, attributed to possible manufacture by Rudolf Souval, associated with the Free Indian cause during the Second World War. Awarded for service in support of the Azad Hind movement, the medal was conferred upon both Indian and German recipients, reflecting the international dimension of the struggle against British colonial rule.

The medal is offered without its original ribbon. Struck in gilt metal, it survives in excellent condition, retaining approximately 95% of its original gilt finish. Minor flaking is visible, concentrated mainly at the upper section of the crossed swords, consistent with age and wartime production. Overall, a highly desirable and historically significant example of the Azad Hind Gold Medal with Swords, notable for its condition, craftsmanship, and direct association with the Indian independence movement. Medal rates in excellent condition.

Historical Description:  The Indian freedom struggle was the long political and social struggle of India against British colonial rule, which ultimately led to independence in 1947.

It began in the 19th century with reform movements and gained strength through the Indian National Congress. Important figures included Mahatma Gandhi, who promoted the path of non-violent resistance (Satyagraha), and Subhas Chandra Bose, who organized an armed struggle through the Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army). The freedom struggle combined mass movements, civil protests, and military efforts, and played a decisive role in ending British rule in India.
