Product Description: We are pleased to be able to offer this rare and amazing Kreisleiter Vehicle Pennant. This piece was intended for use by a district leader of the Nazi Party, and is an impressive and visually very striking piece of regalia, of the highest quality. It is double sided, with each side being adorned with incredible hand-embroidered political style eagle and swastika emblems. These embroidered birds are exquisitely rendered in hand-applied gold bullion, done in such a way that they have a nearly three-dimensional appearance. These eagles are flanked with the letters “KL,” indicating Kreisleitung, also perfectly hand embroidered. The body of this pennant is multi-piece construction, with the center section made of fine tricot wool, trimmed with green chain stitching all the way around. The border of the pennant is made of white ribbed rayon. This beautiful Kreisleiter vehicle pennant is exceptionally well-preserved, with only very light soiling to the tip. The metal post hangers for affixing this to a staff on a vehicle are still intact, with bright original finish. These extremely desirable pennants are very hard to find, especially in outstanding near mint condition, as this one is. This pennant has tremendous appeal, and would be extremely hard to upgrade.

Historical Description: During the Third Reich and WWII, a wide variety of flags and pennants were used on German cars and vehicles. In the military, vehicle flags and pennants were used to indicate branch or rank, or specific command roles. The various civilian organizations also had vehicle flags and pennants for members of their organization or to denote the vehicles of officers, leaders, or people in specific roles. Even political leaders had their own flags, which were often rank specific. Some of the flags, especially military ones, were simply printed, and some were machine woven or stitched, while the flags for political leaders and the highest-ranking military personnel were more decorative and often elaborately hand embroidered in bullion wire. Some vehicle flags were mass produced, including simple national flag type swastika emblem pennants that could have been bought by any patriotic supporter. Others were unique. These flags were attractive souvenirs for GI troops at the end of the war and are eagerly collected today.
