Product Description:

Offered here is an original Adolf Hitler “AH” Informal Pattern Sterling Silver Fork, a rare and historically significant artifact directly tied to Hitler’s personal tableware. This exquisite piece was brought home by a U.S. Veteran of the 42nd Division, one of the first Allied units to enter Hitler’s Munich apartment. The fork, made from .800 solid silver, measures 5 3/4” long and features Hitler’s personal eagle insignia along with his “AH” monogram—a design used daily for informal lunches and dinners in his Munich apartment. This same pattern was also found at the Brown House in Munich, further solidifying its provenance. This fork comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from The Gettysburg Museum of History, where it was originally purchased. It was previously part of the renowned Dr. Mark Griffith Collection, curated by the foremost expert on Hitler’s silver. Dr. Griffith acquired this piece directly from the veteran in the 1970s. The fork bears all the proper hallmarks (see photos) and is in excellent condition, with only a few small marks from use, consistent with its age and historical context. This is a rare opportunity to own a documented and authentic piece of Adolf Hitler’s personal silverware, with impeccable provenance and expert authentication. This Adolf Hitler “AH” Informal Pattern Sterling Silver Fork is a must-have for advanced collectors of World War II artifacts.

Historical Description: The German military and civil elite formed a sort of aristocratic class in Germany before WWII. As was fitting for their status, they used various types of luxury goods including unique, personalized items. For many Nazi leaders, this included sets of silverware and china for use on formal occasions and sometimes for informal use as well. Some of the most highly regarded silversmiths and glass and porcelain manufacturers in Germany and elsewhere were employed to create these fine wares, which were adorned with emblems ranging from initials, monograms and family crests, to insignia of Nazi organizations. In the case of the highest Nazi leader, Adolf Hitler, he had a number of sets of silverware, place settings, linens and service items, used for different functions in his various homes and in the places where he entertained domestic and foreign leaders. When American troops entered Germany in the closing months and weeks of the war, these personal items that had belonged to infamous Nazis were very eagerly sought after as souvenirs. Today, these items, especially those that belonged to the highest echelon of German leadership, are generally regarded as high-end collectibles.
