10 Year NSDAP Long Service Medal with Box

Product Description: This boxed 10 Year NSDAP Long Service Medal is a great example of this scarce and desirable political award. The medal is made of zinc, and retains nearly all of the original bronze finish. There is no evident wear, and both the obverse and reverse show a range of beautiful bronze tones, with golden highlights that contrast with chocolate shades in the deeper areas. The suspension ring is intact and marked 15 on the ring. The original ribbon is present, and has never been passed through the suspension ring on the cross. The ribbon is the correct brown and white type for this award, and retains strong original color, with no damage to note. This award is housed in its original box. On the exterior, the gold Nazi eagle on the cover is perfect. The brown leatherette cover otherwise shows only one small mark at the top of the lid. The reverse of the box is marked with the RZM logo and the maker code “M1/34” for Karl Wurster of Markneukirchen. Inside, the cross and ribbon rest on flocked gold card stock. This boxed 10 Year NSDAP Long Service Medal is a nice set, in mint condition.

Historical Description: Adolf Hitler was an army veteran in 1919. Frustrated by Germany’s defeat in World War I, he joined a new political organization called the German Workers’ Party. The organization was founded earlier that same year and promoted German nationalism. Members of this organization felt that the Treaty of Versailles was extremely unjust to Germany, by burdening it with reparations it could never pay. Hitler became the leader of this party in 1921 and changed the name to The National Socialist German Workers’ Party; Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP). In 1933, Hitler became chancellor of Germany and his Nazi government soon assumed dictatorial powers. After Germany’s defeat in World War II the Nazi party was outlawed.
