Product Description: An excellent RLB Enamel Membership stickpin – 1st Pattern, displaying attractive period character with only minor surface wear to the enamel. The insignia retains a bright silvered center that transitions to a darker, even patinated tone toward the outer edges, lending the piece strong visual depth. The reverse shows light corrosion consistent with age, yet the maker’s mark—attributed to Hoffstätter—remains discernible. Measuring approximately 2.5 inches in length with an emblem just under 1 inch across, the pin maintains its original proportions and detailing.
An appealing and representative early example, this RLB Stick Pin – 1st Pattern offers desirable craftsmanship, legible markings, and an honest, untouched patina, making it a noteworthy addition for collectors of historical insignia. This pin rates in excellent condition.
Historical Description: In Germany, during and between the World Wars, stickpins were generally made for wear on civilian clothing, by either men or women. Whereas most civil and military awards intended for uniform wear were in the form of medals or pin-on badges, the simple stickpins were mostly for adorning lapels of suits. A huge variety of these stickpins were produced. There were pins that anyone could buy, that were patriotic or showed support for some specific cause. There were also various membership pins for military, paramilitary, civil and political organizations. Military and civil awards were also produced in stickpin versions. These took the form of miniature versions of the awards, and could either show one individual award, or all of the awards that one individual had received. In many cases, German stickpins were made with the same standard of quality as the full-size medals and badges.
