Product Description: A distinguished and exceptionally well-preserved example of the Order of the Red Star – Type 4 Variant 2 #1,403,375, awarded in the early months of 1945. Struck in silver and finished with rich, translucent ruby enamel, this late-period issue exhibits superb craftsmanship and detail throughout. The central medallion, depicting a Red Army soldier in fine relief, is crisply rendered and framed by sharply defined rays and immaculate enamel surfaces showing traces of wear to the high points. The reverse is clean and neatly engraved with the serial number 1,403,375, confirming its late wartime production.
An exemplary specimen of one of the Soviet Union’s most enduring and iconic military decorations, the Order of the Red Star – Type 4 Variant 2 #1,403,375 combines aesthetic refinement with historical gravitas. Its excellent overall condition, uniform patina, and strong visual appeal make it a highly desirable addition for advanced collectors of Soviet orders and decorations—an artifact that eloquently reflects the artistry, service, and sacrifice of its era.
Historical Description: The Order of the Red Banner, established in 1924 (and originally by the RSFSR in 1918), was one of the Soviet Union’s earliest and most prestigious military decorations, awarded for exceptional bravery, leadership, and service in combat. Bestowed upon members of the Red Army, Navy, security forces, and occasionally civilians or foreign allies, it became a symbol of revolutionary valor and loyalty to the Soviet state. The design features a red enameled banner with the motto “Proletarians of All Countries, Unite!” above a hammer and sickle, gold star, and wreath motif. Widely awarded during the Great Patriotic War, the order remains a significant emblem of Soviet military honor and ideological commitment.
