Product Description: An original issue of Der Schulungsbrief – THE PARTY DIRECTIVE Magazine, one of the most important and influential publications produced in Nazi Germany, often misunderstood by modern collectors. Despite its name, which is often mistranslated, “Der Schulungsbrief” correctly translates to “The Party Directive”, and was published under the direction of Dr. Robert Ley, Reichsorganisationsleiter of the NSDAP. With a staggering monthly circulation exceeding 4 million, this 8 x 11.5-inch illustrated magazine served as a primary ideological training tool for Party members, covering topics ranging from racial doctrine to internal party matters. Its content was aggressively anti-Semitic, rivaling even Der Stürmer in tone and purpose.

This particular Der Schulungsbrief – THE PARTY DIRECTIVE Magazine issue is in very good condition, with minor wear to the spine but otherwise well-preserved. It originates from the Gettysburg Museum of History, a highly respected institution, and includes its original Certificate of Authenticity (COA). A rare and significant piece of Third Reich propaganda, ideal for serious collectors of WWII-era political publications.

Historical Description: The National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP) maintained an extensive and highly organized propaganda apparatus, in which publications played a central role. Under the direction of Joseph Goebbels’ Ministry of Propaganda and key party officials like Dr. Robert Ley, the Nazi regime produced a wide array of newspapers, magazines, pamphlets, and books aimed at spreading National Socialist ideology, consolidating control, and indoctrinating the German population at every social level.

Publications ranged from widely circulated newspapers such as the Völkischer Beobachter (the official NSDAP newspaper) and Der Angriff (founded by Goebbels), to more specialized propaganda like Der Stürmer, the notoriously antisemitic weekly published by Julius Streicher. Equally influential were monthly ideological training booklets like Der Schulungsbrief, which served as internal party directives to instruct party members and affiliates on race theory, party loyalty, and National Socialist worldviews. These publications were visually striking, often richly illustrated, and written in language designed to both persuade and incite. Collectively, NSDAP print media functioned not only as a tool of mass indoctrination and control but also as a means of reaffirming Nazi legitimacy and preparing the population for war, persecution, and totalitarian rule.
