Hermann Göring Large Format Portrait

Condition: Near Mint

Sold

Product Description: This is an exceptional original large-format portrait photograph of Hermann Göring, produced circa 1942 during his height of power as Reichsmarschall of the Third Reich. The image is derived directly from the official photographic sessions commissioned shortly after Göring assumed his elevated title, capturing him in full regalia with his ornate marshal’s baton, Luftwaffe uniform, and an array of high decorations prominently displayed. This particular example represents one of the most iconic and sought-after visual depictions of Göring from the wartime period.

The photograph is professionally printed from the original negative and measures approximately 8″ x 10″, offering sharp clarity and excellent tonal contrast. It is signed in the lower right-hand corner by the original studio photographer, and the reverse bears the handwritten archival number “440,” which may correspond to an internal cataloging system or studio reference.

Condition is outstanding for its age—near mint overall—with only minor edge wear and faint signs of storage, typical of well-preserved archival pieces. The photograph is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity issued by the Gettysburg Museum of History, a highly respected institution known for its expertise and extensive World War II collection.

Original period photographs of Hermann Göring—especially in large format—are exceedingly rare, as many were destroyed in the aftermath of the war. This example stands out not only for its size and clarity but for the historical gravitas it conveys. Göring portraits of this caliber are highly prized by advanced collectors of Third Reich photography and militaria.
