Product Description: An exceptionally rare and historically significantHitler Youth Song Book Signed by Ernst Röhm artifact, this original Hitlerjugend (Hitler Youth) Songbook bears the personal autograph and inscription of SA Chief of Staff Ernst Röhm—penned just months before his dramatic fall from power and execution during the infamous “Night of the Long Knives.” Dated October 28, 1933, Röhm’s handwritten dedication is composed in the traditional Suetterlin script, and, while difficult to fully translate due to its antiquated style, the message conveys a call to youthful honor and triumph: “Your songs should lead you to honor and great victory. Long live the Leader! Heil Hitler!” He signs simply, Ernst Röhm, and notes the location as Plön, a town in northern Germany—suggesting that he personally visited the Hitler Youth leader to whom this book was presented.
As one of the highest-ranking figures in the early Nazi regime and a key architect of the SA’s rise, Röhm’s influence was immense during the formative years of the Third Reich. His signature, particularly on personalized, dated items such as this, is exceptionally scarce—owing largely to his dramatic purge in June 1934 and subsequent erasure from official Nazi history. Artifacts linked to him were often destroyed, making any surviving autographed material exceedingly rare.
The Hitler Youth Song Book Signed by Ernst Röhm itself is a compelling relic of indoctrination and cultural propaganda aimed at shaping Germany’s youth, and this example—with its powerful association—offers unique insight into the Nazi leadership’s direct engagement with local Hitlerjugend units.
This item is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the Gettysburg Museum of History, a highly respected institution known for its meticulously vetted WWII artifacts. The condition of the songbook is consistent with age, showing only light handling wear, while the ink inscription remains bold and clearly legible.
A museum-grade offering, this is a singular opportunity to acquire a deeply evocative artifact of Third Reich history—signed by one of its most controversial and ultimately doomed figures. Suitable for the most advanced collector or institutional archive.
Historical Description: Ernst Röhm was a key early ally of Adolf Hitler and the founding leader of the SA (Sturmabteilung), the Nazi Party’s paramilitary wing. A decorated WWI veteran, Röhm helped build the SA into a massive force that intimidated political opponents and played a major role in the Nazi rise to power. However, his push for a “second revolution” and ambition to merge the SA with the German Army alarmed Hitler and the military elite. In June 1934, during the Night of the Long Knives, Röhm was arrested and executed on Hitler’s orders, marking a decisive moment in Hitler’s consolidation of power and the rise of the SS.
