Product Description: For the dedicated HJ collector, this original Hitler Youth HJ Tunic Ensemble is an exceptional, genuine, worn set that has remained together since the period, this is an untouched grouping with all original components, making it a truly rare acquisition. Unlike many mismatched or artificially aged sets, this one is 100% authentic, offering a direct link to the past. This outstanding ensemble includes the tunic, scarf, scarf slide, cap, belt & buckle, and leather cross strap—all originating from the same source and exhibiting the expected wear of period use.
This HJ tunic retains all of its original features, showing honest wear from use. The HJ armband is period-stitchedonto the sleeve, an essential detail that proves its original application rather than a postwar addition. Just above it, the HJ district triangle ‘Köln-Aachen’ is also period-stitched, further cementing this tunic’s authenticity and provenance. The loops for shoulder boards remain intact, though the boards themselves are missing, which is not uncommon for uniforms that saw active use. The cuffs do not have buttons, adding to the functional wartime character of the piece. One chest button exhibits a small fabric tear from wear, but this only enhances its genuine history (see detailed photos). Adding to its historical significance, a 1936 tinnie is pinned to the tunic, a nice accessory that reflects participation in pre-war Hitler Youth events and rallies.
The set includes the original black HJ scarf, which exhibits period wear and no longer retains its RZM tag, which is expected for scarves that saw actual use. Additionally, the original scarf slide is present—an essential component often lost over time.
The included Hitler Youth cap has seen significant use, evident in the sweatband’s heavy wear, yet remarkably, its original tag is still present. Despite the interior use, the exterior remains in excellent condition, preserving its sharp and original wartime appearance.
Completing this ensemble is the original HJ belt & buckle. The buckle retains its original silver finish and patina, exhibiting the expected signs of period use. Finding a complete uniform with its original belt buckle is exceedingly rare, making this set even more desirable. The leather cross strap is still intact, an extremely desirable addition that is often missing from surviving sets. It remains in solid, supple condition.
Complete, untouched HJ uniform sets with all original insignia, accessories, and period wear are extraordinarily difficult to find. Many surviving examples have been restored, altered, or stripped of their key components—this grouping remains exactly as it was worn, a true historical artifact that tells a powerful story.
For collectors seeking true authenticity, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to obtain a complete and period-worn Hitler Youth ensemble.
Historical Description: The first Nazi youth organization was created in Germany in 1922. In 1926, this organization took on the name “Hitlerjugend” (Hitler Youth) and by 1930, it had over 25,000 members. From 1933 to 1945, the Hitler Youth was the only official youth organization in Germany. The Hitler Youth was for boys aged 14 to 18, and also included the “Deutsche Jungvolk” for boys aged 10 to 14, and the “Bund deutsche Mädel” for German girls. This was primarily a paramilitary organization. Members learned military skills, such as drill and marching, and were arranged in units with a command structure similar to that of the military. These units were subject to political lectures and other types of indoctrination using Nazi propaganda. By December of 1936, the Hitlerjugend had over 5 million members. During WWII, The Hitler Youth assisted the German postal service and the Reich national railways, among other tasks. By the end of the war, Hitler Youth members were being deployed in combat as anti-aircraft gunners attached as auxiliaries to the Luftwaffe, and as members of the Volkssturm militia units. Hitler Youth personnel had a wide variety of uniforms and headgear, including tan summer uniforms, wool winter uniforms, and specialized clothing for sports competitions or special units. These uniforms were worn with a wide variety of different insignia which designated specific functions and units. Headgear ranged from simple field caps and ski caps, to specialized equipment. Hitler Youth members were also eligible to earn a range of awards. At the end of the war, the Hitlerjugend was disbanded, and later banned by the German criminal code.
