Product Description: A beautiful DRL Desk Eagle in overall excellent condition. This DRL Desk Eagle is made out of silvered zinc, and is single sided. It statue stands 15cm tall, with the eagles wingspan being 9cm wide, and weighs approximately 794 grams. The DRL Desk Eagle is affixed to a marble base by means of two threaded studs with fastening nuts. The original paper sealer over these mounting recesses is still intact, but has tore over the holes themselves. There is a unique dedication plaque to the front of the eagle which reads “Tauplitz Wettkämpfe 1940; A.T.V. Graz”.
Historical Description: The DRL was originally formed shortly after the Olympic games of 1913 to promote physical training among the German population . In 1933, with the NSDAP in full control, responsibility of this physical training department was changed to the Deutsches Reichsbund für Leibesübungen (German National Union for Physical Training), otherwise known as “DRL”.
